I personally feel that most of us have forgotten what this weekend really means having not fought in a World War – oh we have gone to war i.e. Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, but the wars of all wars were Civil War, World War I and II. Whatever your definition of war is, it’s still tragic with the loss of many men women.
As I browse this site it made me realize the true meaning with Taps playing to open the site (you see I'm an army brat, as my father served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Through my childhood and adult years, my father taught me what it meant to be a soldier, whether it is in Canada or the United States of America). Let’s not forget to take that minute at 3 PM to honor all those who have given their life so we may have the freedoms we so truly cherish and take for granted as stated below.

Freedom Is Not Free
I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
He'd stand out in a crowd.
I thought how many men like him
had fallen through the years.
How many had died on foreign soil?
How many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom is not free.
I heard the sound of Taps one night,
when everything was still
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant "Amen"
When a flag had draped a coffin
Of brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
Of mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
with interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington...
No, freedom is not free.

In Honor of Those of 9/11 -- One Day to Remember
I know ask and pray that we all light a candle and take moment of silence to say a prayer for all those who have passed into Heaven’s Gate so we may continue to live our life in freedom
![]()
I Light this Candle,
To honor all the heroes,
Men and Women
Who have given their lives so we may be free
The Candle lights not only for those who went to war
But for all those who sacrifice their lives,
To save the victims of the war
For they are all soldiers of war as they aide those who survive the wrath of war ![]()
I Light this Candle in Hope and Prayer
That there will be no more Towers’ turned to rumble
No more men and women going to war
But as long as man lives
There will always be war for Freedom
Tho Freedom is never truly free!!
